Self Employed
A few weeks ago I was asked by a customer how I managed to completely survive off of my craft. It is something that I still am in shock about. I dreamed about it for so long and never thought id be able to pull it off. I remember always reading the "quit my day job" interviews. I always found them so inspiring and helpful. Still do! I really had nobody around me who was selling on Etsy so I sorta dove in and it took me awhile to figure it all out. I started my Etsy account in May 2011, but before that I had been selling my goods at our local farmers market for 2 summers prior. Which was a really helpful experience. I learned so much from my customers and each week I challenged myself to bring new items and designs to the table. I miss interacting with my customers on a more personal level but selling on Etsy has allowed me to sell my bags allover the world and country. It feels really good and exciting to have such a diverse customer base. Etsy has been such an amazing site for me and so many others. Allowing people all over the globe to work for themselves and create the daily schedule they need. It has been 8 months since I quit my day job and have not looked back since. Thats not to say I have not freaked out a few times and asked myself "what I was doing?" but for now I have found a sweet rhythm.
